
The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
MERIDIAN – A trooper with Idaho State Police shot and killed a suspect during a traffic stop in Meridian Monday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of Meridian Road and West Waltman Lane. The suspect fled and the trooper pursued him to the end of W. Waltman Lane, a dead-end street. At the end of that road, a physical altercation occurred between the trooper and the suspect which ended when the trooper discharged his duty weapon.
Although the trooper attempted to perform lifesaving measures, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
This matter is now under investigation by a critical incident task force, led by the Boise Police Department.
