IDAHO FALLS — A local man reportedly woke up to his girlfriend hitting him in the mouth with a rolling pin.

Staci Minyard, 47, was arrested March 6, after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at the couple’s residence. The victim told police he had fallen asleep on a dog bed and woke up later to Minyard allegedly hitting him with the end of a rolling pin.

It’s unclear why the man was sleeping in the dog bed.

The victim told police he got angry for allegedly being hit in the mouth twice and got up and knocked a bowl of soup out of Minyard’s hands. Police said they found food all over the walls and floor of the residence.

Minyard allegedly then struck her boyfriend in the hand with the rolling pin. The force allegedly caused the victim’s hand to hit a door frame, cutting it. Police photographed a cut on the back of his hand and around the wrist area. He claimed Minyard also hit him on the back of the head giving him a “huge … golf ball.”

According to documents, police photographed a purple and red contusion on the man’s head.

When questioned by police, Minyard said she and her boyfriend had a confrontation, but denied striking him. Police reportedly found a rolling pin that had smudges on it. They asked Minyard if the smudges were blood and she responded that it wasn’t her blood.

Minyard told police the victim had been asleep on the dog bed, got up and threw her soup all over the room. She said he then allegedly pushed her up against the wall and then she left the residence.

Minyard was arraigned and released on March 7. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 23.
