POCATELLO — A woman is in the hospital after another woman struck her on the head with a pistol outside a dollar store along one of Pocatello’s busiest streets.
Police said the two women began arguing with each other inside the Dollar Tree in the 600 block of Yellowstone Avenue around 6:20 p.m. Monday. The argument spilled outside the store and that’s where the one woman pulled out a pistol and struck the other woman on the head with the gun, police said.
Police and fire units responded to the incident and the woman who was struck on the head was transported via ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. Police described her head injury as non-life threatening.
The pistol-wielding woman fled the scene after hitting the other woman and police said they were still searching for her as of Monday night.
Police said they don’t know if the two women knew each other and it’s unclear what triggered the initial argument inside Dollar Tree.
The name of the woman who was injured has not yet been released.
